Evie didn’t speak until after she was three years old. She’s obsessed with Pokémon and bees and she is autistic. She is in her school’s specialist unit, which she loves. She wants to save the planet, loves David Attenborough and, her mum is now finding, is very funny.
“I am doing things with Evie I would never have dreamed of doing before. She has gone from 0 – 100 in a matter of weeks.”
Natalie is a nursery teacher at a large West London primary. She started Bright Talk to address low levels of speech and language and was interested in how the programme could meet the needs of SEND pupils.
Natalie wanted to get parents really involved and make sure that what happens at school filters into what happens at home.
She identified a small group pf children with speech and language needs (mostly EAL) and worked intensively with their parents to increase the levels of conversation in the home.
"Conversations parents are having with children are amazing”.
