Collected Personal Data 

We currently collect and process the following information: Name and contact details (email and phone number).  We also hold data on which Bright Talk programmes you have participated in.

How we collect personal data 

We typically collect your personal information directly from you. This can happen in different ways, including:

  • when you’re visiting our website;
  • when you request information on our website;
  • when you engage with us via social media; or
  • when you contact us via phone, email or in writing.

Purpose of collecting data

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you so that we can provide you with information about Bright Talk programmes or to enrol you on a Bright Talk programme.

We use the information that you have given us for the purpose for which it was provided to us.

We do not share this information with any other organisations or individuals.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are: Your consent.

  • You are able to remove your consent at any time.

Working with schools

We also receive information from schools for the purpose of running a Bright Talk programme with their parents and caregivers.  The information that we receive (mobile number, gender, child's class) is provided to us without names.   We are unable to link the data to individuals.  We do not share this information with any other organisations or individuals.

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are: Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f))

Your data protection rights

Under data protection law, you have rights including:

  • Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information. 
  • Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete. 
  • Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances. 
  • Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances. 
  • Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
